The Office of the Provost provides leadership to all academic areas to support ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s mission to graduate citizen-leaders. We remain committed to delivering the educational model to which ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ has been dedicated for over 200-years: one that prioritizes courses and programs that seamlessly integrate hands-on learning, reflection, and application. We empower our faculty to serve as guides and collaborators in students’ experiential journeys. Whether mentoring undergraduate research projects, facilitating community-engaged learning, or leading immersive field experiences, we provide faculty with the resources and flexibility to meet students where curiosity leads them.

Meet the Interim Provost and Dean of the Faculty

Dr. Lea M. Williams, PhD

Dr. Lea Williams

Dr. Lea M. Williams was appointed to serve as Interim Provost and Dean of the Faculty in August 2025. She is committed to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s long traditional of delivering high-impact experiential learning to students and strives to support faculty in creating and sustaining these high-impact opportunities that connect academic theory with lived practice.  She has been a dedicated member of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community for nearly two decades. 

Beginning her ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ journey as an Assistant Professor of English in 2006, Dr. Williams has experienced the institution from multiple perspectives, advancing through roles as Faculty Development Coordinator, Department Chair, Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Senior Associate Provost before assuming her current position as chief academic officer. Dr. Williams earned her MA and PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon and a BA in Comparative Literature from the American University of Paris. She is the author of Ellen N. La Motte: Nurse, writer, activist published by Manchester University Press.
